OceanFirst hires former First Midwest CFO

OceanFirst Financial in Red Bank, N.J., has hired the former chief financial officer at First Midwest Bancorp to fill the same post.

The $11.7 billion-asset OceanFirst said in a press release Thursday that Patrick Barrett will join the company as executive vice president of finance on April 18, then succeed Michael Fitzpatrick as CFO on June 2.

Fitzpatrick, who has been at OceanFirst for nearly 30 years, is retiring. He will remain a consultant for the company following his retirement.

First Midwest was sold to Old National Bancorp last month.

Prior to joining First Midwest, Barrett was the CFO at Fulton Financial.

“Mike’s sound financial leadership has seen the company through seven acquisitions and the realization of many successful growth strategies,” Christopher Maher, OceanFirst’s chairman and CEO, said in the release.
